How time flies...especially during the early months of summer when there is so much to do to get the yard looking clean & fresh after a VERY long winter! I could spend the entire day working in the yard! Absolutely LOVE IT!
This week's CCC is all about Nautical. The first thing that popped into my head was all the old movies where the sailors wore navy & white striped shirts and red bandannas! So I had a google and apparently the Russian sailors wore these shirts for years and the French sailors still wear them! At least that is what Google told me!
Alternating stripes of navy & white with a sweet wee "Hi" speech bubble (Silhouette) and my card was done! I tried a few bits of this & that but preferred the very clean & graphic look!
If you happen to find a few spare craft room minutes in your busy summer/school's out schedule, why not give this week's challenge a whirl? We would love to have you share your creations with us at the CCC!
Happy crafting!
Well, crap, Blogger gave me an OOPS, so I'll try again! I love your nautical card, my friend! This has "hello sailor!" ~ and your precise skill and eye for design ~ all over it!!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that the weather is finally nice so you can be outside in your garden as much as possible! We have the twinks coming for five days, but I hope to play in your CCC! I also hope you have some time to play in my NBUS Challenge! Have a great day! Mwah! Darnell
Oh! This reminds me of my *favorite* navy and white striped shirt I had years ago, and looooved to wear! Fab job, Geri!
ReplyDeleteGeri this is fantastic! So clean and crisp and well nautical!
ReplyDeleteSo perfect, Geri! I love the cool graphic speech bubble and the stripes. Awesome job!
ReplyDeleteYour cards with stripes are always a delight to me. This reminds me of one you did last year, which I CASED, and I just might have to CASE this one...I love this. Hope you don't mind if I pin this one; just have to! hugs. Bev
ReplyDeleteGeri, this is the perfect representation of nautical - navy and white stripes with a touch of red. I love the modern CAS feel to it - fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteThere is not a strip out of place!!! Absolutely LOVE this! The Hi is SO perfect for this, and adds the most fabulous punch of red on the striped background! Amazed as always!!! And glad you're having some fun in the garden too...I can't imagine how happy you are to see summer on it's way after *that* winter!!!

ReplyDeleteSimplicity at its best :) love the speech bubble !
ReplyDeleteGeri...I love your card, so clean and so fun and that speech bubble, just the perfect way to add a pop of beautiful red to your card.
ReplyDeleteCrisp, clean, graphic and sooooo totally precise and perfect, Geri ... the splash of red in the speech bubble is fabulous and bold and I just love the square shape, it's fantastic with the stripes! Way beyond more gorgeous than the French matelots' winter uniform!! I'm in serious catch up mode, which I know from the numbers in my Feedly will take a while ... but should be up to date in time to play along! Happy gardening, my friend! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteFABULOUS. And perfectly executed, Geri. I'm with ya on the gardening too. My problem is I go out to do these two little things and then five hours later come back in starved and with an aching back!
ReplyDeleteHoly smokes, dear friend, I thought I commented on this delicious striped delight and coming back to visit, I discover nothing! Grrr...oh well, excellent opportunity to gaze in admiration at your innovative nautical-inspired card and return a "HI" your direction! Your days in the yard sound marvelous! Alas, we have no 'yard' to speak of (which I miss) but even if we did, the cool temperatures would make 'trying' to grow something...well, 'trying'! One year, I put some flowers in flower boxes; poor things, they lasted a few short weeks then fell victim to a frost...in JULY! A busy week at work ahead then..school's out for summer!! Yayyy...although I'll be puttering around with last minute things into next week - but that's a come-and-go on my own schedule. Excited!! Any plans for heading this way??? Hoping so...Many big squishy hugs coming your way~c
ReplyDeleteOh, boy, such a lot of time has passed since I last visited blogs, but I've put this afternoon aside to get to enjoy everybody's work!! (I've been enjoying my knitting and crocheting in the wintersun these last few days!!)
ReplyDeleteI love your card, Geri!! Love the strong graphic look and the speech bubble is perfect!!! Very, very striking and so neatly done!!! Great!!!
Enjoy the summer and the gardening!!!
