Unscripted Sketches #182

If you visited yesterday, you might recognize this card....minus the wee bird (scroll down to the previous post for the variation and card details).

This week's sketch initially made me think of trees.  However, when I flipped it sideways, I was reminded of clouds floating across the sky on a nice sunny day with trees so tall they look like they could touch the clouds!.

I did stray a bit from the sketch by placing the sentiment across the bottom, but remember, the sketches are only a starting point and personal interpretation is encouraged and welcomed!

We would love to have you visit and play along with this week's sketch.  Just click here to get all the info you need to get busy creating!

Happy crafting!

CASology: Week #16: WILD

A forest scene "out in the wild" with a wee "wild" bird singing his get well wishes.  Hopefully, this meets with this week's Cue Card  at CASology.

WILD can be so many things - wild geese, wild animals, wild fans, wild colors, wild ride....  I am sure that I could adapt 3/4 of my stamps into something "wild" related.

This entire card was stamped on white and sponged with the various inks, with the exception of the blue base and the punched dots on the trees.

Thanks for stopping by.  Happy crafting :)

Supplies:  Clouds - MFT dies; Scalloped Circles & Circle punches - EK Success and SU;  Get Well sentiment - ditto; Bird - Ruby Violet; Cardstock - CTMH and SU; Ink - SU and Versacolor

CASology: Week #16: WILD

Another fun cue card at CASology this week!  I am sure that "WILD" will definitely generate some interesting interpretations!

Bambi's coat looks like she might be suffering from Mange.  Not the case!  In real life the image is a nice dark, rich color with no uneven areas.

I wanted to give Bambi a bit of luminosity, so I lightly colored her with my "Twinkling Like Stars Atyou Spica" marker.  She does look like she had a lovely glossing treatment especially for the photo shoot!

The camera, however, took exception to this reflection which explains the Mange effect!  The sparkle is minimal and probably would go unnoticed by a male recipient of said card!

The tree stamp is Hero Arts, the deer is Dasher from SU with the antlers masked off, sentiment and paper is SU as well.

Card details:  I drew the highway using a curving ruler, cut it out and adhered to the card base. The divider lines are the inside pieces from a button punch (? Walmart ?).  The little Love Bug looking vehicle is made with various punched circles.  The exhaust cloud is a MFT cloud die shaded with Copic grey.

Play Date Cafe Challenge #154

Another entry for the 3rd Anniversary Celebrations. Please see my previous post for all the exciting celebration activities!

I used the challenge photo for my inspiration.  I love the purple tone of the wooden boardwalk and the soft glow of the lanterns .... reminds me of a warm, summer evening at the lake!

I embossed SU Elegant Eggplant with a wood grain embossing folder, cut narrow strips and adhered to the card front to mimic the boardwalk.

I wanted to give my "lanterns" a 3D look so I curled/curved the 'paper prior to adhering to the card.  Quite a nice effect in real life! My attempts at creating a candle glow were quite unsuccessful....pretty much looked like the whole thing was on fire!  The above was plan B.

Challenge #154 - The Play Date Cafe's 3rd Anniversary Celebration

The party is on at  The Play Date Cafe !!!

There are tons....AND I MEAN TONS of giveaways and prizes to be won this week in celebration of the Play Date Cafe's 3rd anniversary.

Several of the alumni DT members have joined the current Design Team and are serving up some tasty eye candy!  Seriously -.nobody wants to miss out on a fun, fun, fun party...right?  Inspiration abounds and is yours to behold with the click of your mouse!

I stamped the flowers and sentiment with SU Real Red ink.  The stamps are SU and PTI.  The rhinestones were colored with Copics in a grape color and the bottom panel (SU Rich Razzleberry) represents the Mulberry color of this challenge.

CASology Week #15 Night

... is this REALLY pushing the limit?

I was trying really hard to come up with something TOTALLY original for the "Night" theme....even had dear hubby throwing out ideas (no, you do not want to hear his !!!).

Anyway, I have had this stamp for at least 100 years and never had the chance to ink it up! My nephew is getting married this summer and the men (boyzzzz) will most likely be planning some sort of male bonding adventure - might this be the invite?  Yeah right, as if guys that shoot and catch our meals would ever dream of this!!!

But, the idea was good.....

The stamp is "Beer Fella" by Stampingbella; colored with Copics

Unscripted Sketch #181 - Piggyback Challenge - Movement

Thanks for stopping by today.  Before I begin my card details, I would like to apologize for totally forgetting to schedule my post for Unscripted Sketch #180.  Sheesh!

It is so exciting to have the continued support of the talented card makers that contribute their creations to our weekly sketch.  As well, a very happy welcome to the newcomers that have just discovered our sketch challenge.  I absolutely love spending time visiting everyone's blogs!

On with the details of this week's card.  First and foremost...in real life, this card is a striking bright orange color (not red)!  Photographing this vivid color was quite a challenge. The piggyback portion of this challenge is Movement.  The three bats are all attached with some clear fishing line so they 'fly' around the card when it is moved.  The white panel is Cuttlebug haunted house impression, the moon is sponged with some orange ink, the scalloped border is die cut with Nestabilities.  The sentiment is stamped (SU), die cut with Nestabilities and popped up with dimensionals.

Please stop by the Unscripted Sketches to check out the sweet projects from the rest of the DT, then get busy creating!

Happy crafting!

CASology Week #14: Leaf

Love this week's cue card challenge.  I have so many leaf stamps that it was hard making a decision which one to use.  This is an old Hero Arts stamp set called Three Designer Leaves (they look like trees to me though).  I stamped them three times each with a mix of two different greens (both pigment inks).  The berries/red dots are just that!  Sentiment and tree trunk are stamped in SU Chocolate Chip.

Hurry though, because the deadline for entries is soon!  Just click CASology Week #14 Leaf to link!

Happy crafting!

Unscripted Sketches #180

This card is pulling a double shift!  This time round it is for Unscripted Sketches #180.

This is a Fiskars stamp that is intended for a roller (didn't know that at the time I bought it!).  I don't have a roller so I just used a large acrylic block and Black Stazon ink. The stamp is actually very cheap and stamped a very nice, clean impression.

Supplies:  SU Paper and Tiny Tag punch & stamp set; SU jewels colored with Copic markers; DMC embroidery cotton.

Hope you find time to join us for another fun sketch!

 Happy crafting!

Unscripted Sketches #178 and the Play Date Cafe PDCC152

This color combo was inspired by the latest color challenge at the Play Date Cafe.  The deep, intense colors really work well with this week's Unscripted Sketch #178.

I die cut the flower (MFT Tilth Flower) from three different colors, lined it up on the various circles (very tricky business) so that only a single flower shape is visible, then adhered the circles to each other to complete the full flower pattern.

I popped the circles up with dimensionals, stamped the sentiment, and added a bit of bling to the centre of the flower.

For all my fellow Canadians I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving holiday.

CFC72 TOOT YOUR OWN HORN

2012-10-05  Thanks to the CAS-ual Friday DT for choosing this card as one of the "Contenders".  I am thrilled :)

As you can see, I don't have a blog header so I couldn't toot my own horn but tooted the CAS-ual Fridays horn instead!.  I fiddled around with different fonts trying to get something close (notice the upper and lower case letters in their logo....tricky, tricky, tricky). I think the end result is actually quite close...Yay!

It is quite late right now (actually early in the morning) so I will add more details Wednesday afternoon.  Until then, skip on over to the CAS-ual Fridays blog and check out the kazillion cards that have been uploaded as well as all the wonderful DT creations.

I'm back with the details on the card.  I punched various sizes of dots/circles with SU Crushed Curry and Bermuda Bay for the wee flowers (they also remind me of molecules).  The black line is a thin piece of SU black card stock glued between the sentiments....another tricky, tricky task!

Happy crafting!

colourQ challenge #156

Just couldn't resist the sweet colors this week at colourQ.  It has been quite some time since I have played along with the challenges from one of my favorite challenge blogs!

Combine that with the new dies that just arrived in the mail and it was crafty time for me.  I've seen "Tilth Flower" used in several cards and have always admired those cards.

I stamped the 'gauze look' pattern on plain white paper in Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry and Really Rust (closet I could get to Dusty Durango).  I then die cut the flower and glued each petal into the corresponding flower.  Colored up some rhinestones, added a sweet Hello (love this font)  with a bit of bling, popped the panel up onto Soft Suede....easy peasy...done!

Supplies:  SU paper, Martha Stewart bling; Michael's sentiment stamp
