A belated happy birthday wish
for my dear, dear friend Ardyth!
Yes, I knew about this for weeks and yes I am a horrible procrastinator and at this point, likely not such a great friend to miss the actual birthday celebration! Sorry Ardyth !
My mind was a whirling blur! How could I possibly select a favorite Ardythian Style card to CASE? Impossible! I could never nail it down to just one card...more like 100 favorites because each and every card is so amazing! I often sit at my computer screen, mouth agape, drooling over her never ending creativity and flawless execution of her designs.
I seriously admire her spunk and energy! She is on a million design teams, always takes time to leave kind and encouraging words for everyone, volunteers in her community, church, and school, and crafts in her 'spare time'.... I think I broke out in a sweat just typing all this!!!
I really wanted the highlight of my card to be the stamping. We all know that Ardyth is THE Stamping Queen so this was my way of trying to show her just how special she is by attempting to pull off a perfectly stamped card....12 almost finished card fronts are in the garbage. This happened to be attempt #13.
Ya think I have even more respect for Ardyth's stamping ability now? Yep!!!
I'm sure that most of you know that this fun party idea was organized by party planner extraordinaire Darnell from djkardcreations. Yowzers - she is one amazingly talented, funny and witty lady who sure knows how to throw a great party!!!
Once again, so sorry for being late with my birthday wishes. I hope you had a great day and that you like the card made especially for you by my hands, from my heart :)
First: You're baaacckk!! Yay!! Missed you, your gorgeous cards, your delightful posts! *Geri-withdrawal* for sure! Next: what a stunning card you've created for Ardyth (13's a lucky number! And you can see why "my" attempts to case an Ardyth-lovely would still see me trying...). She'll LOVE your card and your heart-warming, thoughtful words! Wow - what a great circle of friends you have (count me in the mix, too!). Happy you're back; happy you had some card time; happy, happy, happy!!

Hi Sweetie,
ReplyDeleteYour card is lovely. Period. And I am certain that the birthday girl will love it. And in my world, it's not late, you've just extended her party! It is good to see you back in blog land. And the card is sweet, bright, and fun. xoxo Bev
Happy dancing in triplicate and cheering and smiling 'cause I'm soooooo delighted to see you my dear friend ... and with such a delicious slice of Ardyth-ness to boot ... glorious jewel colours, luscious shine and fabulous white space! You and me both on try, try, try again ... yep, total respect for Ardyth's amazing ability! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteWell, there you are! Geri, you are so hard on yourself! I'm sure the first dozen were equally brilliant "Ardycards!" This is so, so pretty! Your work, too, is always creative as hellbarrows and flawlessly executed!! Thank you so much for your help with the party - which, BTW, you are not "late" to because it doesn't end until June 15th! How about THAT for a party, huh?! C'mon on over, Mister just put some more Coronas on ice . . . bring the bingo cards and Ruth and Ethel! Mwah! Darnell
ReplyDeleteHey, this is so much fun, I'm all for extending this birthday until the next one! I adore this clean, fresh sunny card and I can see exactly why it might have 12 dead siblings in the recycling - placing perfectly stamped images (especially masking them) is very very tricky and when the card is this clean, there's no room for mistakes! I can see a ton of places where this card could have caused trouble and yet it sits there, looking perfect (and perfectly innocent!) Thank you so much for persevering through the night to make this for me - I truly appreciate all the effort you went through and I also truly appreciate your friendship! Thanks for coming to my birthday party!
ReplyDeleteGeri, I always love reading your blog not only for the gorgeous cards that you create but also for the stories you tell. I think you underestimate yourself and you should pull those other 12 cards out of the trash as I'm sure they are wonderful works of art too. By the way Geri you can now get notification by email when I have a new blog post. Does that work for you? I can't remember if that was how you wanted to get the updates. Sorry it took soo long.
ReplyDeleteIt's fashionable to be late :) Such a very cute card - love the clean look! The party was fun - thanks for helping out~
ReplyDeleteoh...just so cute! I love your card and your nailed Ardyth's style too. Nice to see you back in blogland too. Thank you so much for helping bloglands number 1 party planner Darnell, you are so sweet.
ReplyDeleteOh, it's just beautiful, Geri!!! So bright and cheery! I love the little glossy centers! Just perfect in every way! Hope it's not too late for me to join in when we get home from vacation!

ReplyDeleteGeri, this card is not only clean, it's pristine!! 13 trys is probably 50 less tries that it would take me to pull this off. Just gorgeous! And so, so kind, sweet and thoughtful for you and Darnell to arrange such a special, memorable birthday surprise for Ardyth.
