Unscripted Sketches #195

Close up photo that shows the popped up layers.

Another fun sketch from the every so talented SarayKaye!  Pop on over to the Unscripted Sketches blog and check out what the other DT members have created....then get busy crafting!

I stamped the image several times on some lovely Neenah Solar White card stock (definitely a must have for copic coloring).  I fussy cut the separate pieces and kept layering the flower until I reached the final centre piece.(see above photo).  The swirls were stamped directly onto the base card stock (selected portions were taped off).  Sentiment is SU, flower and swirls are BoBunny SV816.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Unscripted Sketches #196, CAS-ual Fridays CFC86 and Dynamic Duo #36

A quick clean and simple Valentine's Day card for DH.  The hearts are actually suspended with the stitching and are free to twist & turn...although it looks like they are just mounted on the black panel!  The card is sized to 3 1/2 in x 6 in.

The heart dies are part of my recent purchase from Simon Says Stamp!  Love the the four sizes nest within each other.

Just a short post today...places to go, people to see......

Happy crafting!

Moxie Fab World 75 Creative Card Challenges Week: Make Your Own Background Paper and Unscripted Sketches #194 - Piggyback Challenge

A frosty cold day here in Manitoba, so the only place to be was in my craft room!  I just received some sweet goodies from Simon Says Stamp and had to try them out....and what better way than with a challenge as well as my DT card for this weeks Unscripted Sketch.

This is my second entry into the Moxie Fab World Creative Card Challenges - Make Your Own Background Paper. I started with a black card base and added some "Fiber Tape" that I happened upon on DH's work bench! The stuff comes in a roll (see pic below) and is stick on one side.  It is only 2" wide so I had to use three pieces to cover the card.  The texture is amazing IRL.  This is what the 'stuff' looks like.

This week's sketch at Unscripted Sketches is an optional Piggyback Challenge, which is to use stickers.  Honestly, I might have 5 stickers in my craft room and they are so old that I'm sure the 'stick' has dried up!  Chevron stripes - meet piggyback.  After die cutting the stripes, I adhered them on to some double sided Sookwang paper.  Removed the backing paper and voila - a sticker! Here is this week's  awesome sketch:

2013-01-20 Edited to add:  My dear friend Anita from My Papercraft World has just suggested to me that the Fiber Tape is sticky (it stuck to the paper all on its own!) would also qualify as a sticker - right?

So many challenge opportunities for you to play along with this week! Click  here to check out the other Creative Card Challenges at the Moxie Fab World.

Happy crafting!

Card details:
Die-namics Chevron dies, Lil' Inker Designs Stitched Label Die, SU paper, Home Hardware Fiber Tape

Moxie Fab Creative Card Challenges: 10 Different Embellishments and Unscripted Sketches #193

A close up of the tiles
(It was quite difficult to get a good photo that shows the depth of the tiles)

Have you stopped by the Moxie Fab World lately? If not, get moving because Cath is hosting some super fun challenges to celebrate the week long celebration of Paper Crafts magazine's latest and greatest 165-page special publication 75 Creative Card Challenges

The first challenge is to create a paper crafted card that uses 10 or more embellishments in an innovative way.  I really do hope that these home made game pieces qualify as an embellishment!

I happened to find a scrap of light colored wood grain paper in my stash that is similar to the tiles of a Scrabble game - Yay!  I computer printed the letters on the wood grain paper,  then die cut each letter individually using the smallest Nestability square die.

I wanted the tiles to look authentic so I die cut squares from some chipboard type product (reclaimed packaging ?), glued two pieces together, then glued the printed tile on top. 18 tiles x 3 layers = 54 passes through the Big Shot!

I created the "board" graph on the computer, glued the tiles to the board, added some bling and popped up the panel on some SU Tangerine Tango paper.

And while you're in your craft room creating some great cards, how about using this week's Unscripted Sketch for your inspiration? The DT has posted so many variations of the sketch - you will definitely be inspired! We would love to have you play along with this weeks sketch :)

Game on!

CASology Week 25: New and Play Date Cafe PDCC 163

Two fun and fabulous challenges.  Something "NEW" at CASology this week and something Champagne, Sky Blue and Tangerine at Frosty Beauty at The Play Date Cafe.

"NEW" really had me thinking, but the one thing that kept coming back to mind was the song What's New Pussycat.  It was sung by the now pretty old Tom Jones.  Okay, I know that all you youngsters are likely saying "WHO ???".  He was a real hottie way back when!

I knew exactly what type of cat image I wanted and headed straight to Pink Cat Studio, an on line digi stamp store in Vancouver, BC.  I love the fun and whimsical characters that Melissa's has created. Very reasonable prices and easy to follow instructions.

I printed the cat and sentiment on white card stock. I reprinted the cat on the 3 other colors, then paper pieced the entire image! I am a bit disappointed with how the sparkly glasses present in the photo.  IRL the color is almost exactly the same as the blue shirt.

Once the card was finished I wondered why I didn't just color i the image with Copics ??? Oh well, this was fun :)

Happy crafting!

Paper:  SU Tangerine Tango; CTMH white; Martha Stewart Sky Blue and unknown Champagne color; Martha Stewart glitter; Pink Cat Studio digi stamp, computer generated sentiment

CFC84: THANK YOU

Having the honor of being a Guest Designer on the CAS-ual Fridays Blog was definitely the highlight of my 2012 crafting year. What a fun way to ring in the New Year!

After several attempts at creating a card that I was happy with, this is the one I settled on!  I was really quite nervous, wanting to make a card that I felt would be good enough to post alongside the amazing cards that the  CAS-ual Frdays DT would be posting!

Now, don't waste another minute.....just skip on over and see what the Girl Fridays have created for this very first challenge of 2013!  You do know that you will gazing upon some pretty fine eye candy!

Card deets:  SU black and CTMH white card stock; sentiment and image stamps - seriously, unknown (garage sale finds - the flower could be Hero Arts); Jet Black Stazon ink

Unscripted Sketches #192 and Runway Inspired Challenge #26 - Bibhu Mohapatra

and

I'm really enjoying making a card that qualifies for more than one challenge! It is a great way to attract new visitors to a blog and perhaps introduce them to challenges that they may not be aware of.

Check out the fabulous colors at this weeks Runway Inspired Challenge and this week's sweet sketch at Unscripted Sketches.  The designer outfit is sporting some glorious shades of green...from the hues of  lime green in the tunic top to the 'pea soup' color of the skirt, while the Unscripted sketch presents a world of possibilities!

I used the white card base to reflect the runway and walls.  The navy mat on my card reflects the navy edging on the tunic top. The 'arrow' shaped pieces on my card mimic parts of the pattern on the top. The navy stripe that runs through my 'arrows' is also part of the same pattern.

I think that the 'arrows' also draw attention to the middle of the card just as the panels of navy on the side of the top narrows her waist (as if she needs an illusion to make her midriff look slim!!!)

A "Hello" sentiment seemed appropriate as the arrows meeting in the middle of the card reminded me of two people connecting to have a chat.

Card deets:  SU paper, Michaels Dollar Bin sentiment, SU embossing powder
