CONGRATS!

A quick post to share the card that I made for my niece who recently passed her national USA and Canadian Medical Radiology Technology exams! She is one amazing young woman...kind, smart, caring, hard working, honest & reliable!

Take a close look at the gorgeous texture on the White Linen card stock by Ellen Hutson! The blue AC paper also has some nice texture as well. I added a few black rhinestones and wee punched black dots for a bit of contrast. The sentiment and the flourish were created by inlaying the colored elements into the negative space (Silhouette cut file).

I love the simplicity of this design.  If I were to do this a second time round, I would select a font that has a bit more flair to compliment the pretty lines of the flourish.

I am linking this card to this weeks's Simon Says Anything Goes! challenge (as long as I can get the link-up process to work today!)

Happy crafting!

CASology - Week 68: BLACK

Have you checked out the amazing submissions for this week's challenge at CASology?  Black redefined!

Kristie is the Guest Designer and has created an absolutely stunning Christmas card...yes, using black. You best scoot on over to the blog to have a look at her handiwork as well as the amazing projects that the DT has created for our viewing pleasure.

Silhouette Kitty was dazzled up with orange Martha Stewart glitter on her hat (yes, she's a girl because she has pink lipstick on her nose). The spider and hat band were dusted with black embossing powder and left unheated to create a stylin' faux suede look. I brushed on just a touch of Liquid Glass to brighten up her green eyes.  I used the trace option to create the outline around the image. The sentiment is also a Silhouette cut file.  A bit of bling and done!

It feels sooooooooo good to be back crafting! The yard has been readied for winter, the renovation work is complete and the cold weather is on its way.  This all translates to tons of time to play - so play is what I plan to do!

Happy crafting!

7 Days of Halloween Blog Event - WINNER, WINNER....

Thank you to everyone who left such sweet comments during our Halloween event!  The Inspiration Crew "brewed up" some pretty darn amazing  projects! Inspiration galore at every click of the mouse!

Now, let's get right down to the fun part....choosing the random winner of a $20 gift certificate.

Because I'm not familiar with  Mr. Linky or Mr. Rafflecopter, Mr. Hubby stepped in and chose a random number based on the number of comments posted over the seven days.  A total of 159 comments were received. DH then picked a random number right out of thin air (#76) which became the winner. I know that it's not rocket science, but it worked!

And the winner is:

Eeee...how adorable for your niece's first Halloween! Pink, green (is that more of your Winner's paper?) embossing, cute ghostie X 1,00000000 - yep, you will be deemed 'savvy Aunty' with this charmer! LOVE it!!
Hope you're getting enough rest (and spoiling and pampering, too!)
c

Congrats Carol! I will e-mail you tonight and we can figure out where you want to spend your $20!

7 Days of Halloween Blog Event - Day 7

Welcome to the final day of this fabulous blog event!  First and foremost, I would like to thank Donna and Barb for inviting me to be part of this group of online friends who love to craft!  I'm sure that you were all just as delighted as I with the amazing projects that were posted!

I was thrilled to have met some of these incredibly talented ladies for the first time. Their enthusiasm, friendliness and kindness made this week so enjoyable.  I really do look forward to the next inspiration crew event :)

My card is another Silhouette file....that took me forever to figure out how all the pieces fit together! Yes, the scrap bin was well fed today!  Once I got the pieces in order, the card came together rather quickly. Kind of a sweet little fella, don't you think?

7 Days of Halloween Blog Event - Day 6

Please note that this post was edited when Rachel kindly let me know that we were on Day 6, not Day 7!  Sheesh - too many late nights :)

Welcome to Day 6 of this fabulous blog event! I hope you are enjoying all the tasty treats that 'the crew' has created!

My inspiration for this card came in a round-about way.  It started with Charlie Brown's chevron striped shirt ...which led me to think of The Great Pumpkin....which totally qualifies for our Halloween inspiration blog event....well kind of....

The chevrons were cut with a MFT die from the GORGEOUS paper that I happened to find at Winners last week!  I will definitely be on the look-out for more of this paper on my next visit.  I adjusted the die when cutting to make the stripes narrower.

A simple graphic sentiment (Silhouette) and the card was done! Please take a minute or 10 to drop by the following blogs for more Halloween Inspiration!

Also, remember to leave a comment here on my blog for a chance to win a $20 gift card at a mystery location!  The random draw will be made on Tuesday, October 16, 2012.  I will contact the winner by e-mail.

Happy crafting!

7 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN BLOG EVENT - DAY 5

My DH hunts, my dad hunted, my grandfather hunted and yes...our son is also an avid outdoors man and hunter.  So obviously this will be his Halloween card!  Hunter = EVERYTHING possible in Camo! In fact, he was a Groomsman for one of his buddies this past month, and the boys wore camo tuxedos! Everyone called them the "The Duck Dynasty Boys" :)

The ghosts were cut with my Silhouette and popped up with dimensionals to create both movement and depth. I scored two lines above and below the sentiment  which was computer generated.

So now it is time for you to hop on over to these blogs and show your appreciation for the fine work these ladies are doing!

7 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN BLOG EVENT - DAY 4

EDITED  8:12am
It isn't wise to post a card at 2:15am!  The late night seriously cripples the principles of good design!

When I checked out my blog this morning, I experienced one of those "What was I thinking?" moments!!!

Back to the craft desk for a bit of a re-make.  Thankfully I didn't damage the embossed green panel when I was removing said elements! I will also be adding an exclamation mark after the Boooo!

And dang it all, those fluorescent colors refuse to play nicely with the lighting in the light box.  Sheesh - the pink looks like it went through a wash cycle with a jug full of bleach!

This sweet card is for my DH's niece who will be celebrating her first Halloween! Not your typical H'ween color combo, but the pink just looked too darn cute with the green, so I ran with it! The original letters from the front of the card (Too Cute To Spook) will be re-purposed for the inside verse.

Now off you to go hopping!  I've checked out the blogs of the other ladies (listed below) and my-oh-my, the talent and creativity that these women have is endless!

The best part of it all...is that they are sharing it with you for one reason only - to inspire and kick start your Halloween projects! By the way...keep your eyes open for some blog candy along the way too :)

SEVEN DAYS OF HALLOWEEN BLOG EVENT - DAY THREE

Welcome back to Day 3! I hope that you have been inspired like never before and have been busy putting all your ideas to paper! I'm quite certain that you will all agree that yesterday's DT projects were amazing. I know that we are in for one heck of a week! I can hardly wait until the morning to check out all the new creations!

Here is my project for Day Three! Do you get the feeling that I am really enjoying my new little Silhouette? Tons more to learn! I know I have just scratched the surface of what this rig is capable of doing!

I am loving this new paper that I picked up at Winners on Sunday. Hard to see in the pic, but it has beautiful texture, nice weight and the colors are gorgeous! 4 sheets each of 15 different colors - $14 (yep, Start the Car, Start the Car!!!) By the way, the colors of the first pumpkin are orange and purple (looks like black in the photo!)

Please excuse the ugly edges of my home-made photo booth that appear in the photo! It is not often that I have to photograph three cards at once! Must fix that for future photo shoots!

Here are the links to the rest of the gals taking part in this fun event!

SEVEN DAYS OF HALLOWEEN BLOG EVENT - DAY TWO

Welcome to Day 2 of this Spooktacular event!  I hope that you enjoyed your Day One visits to the blogs as much as I did! WOW - talk about talent and creativity....these ladies are on fire!

Here is my project for Day Two.  I am putting my relatively new Silhouette Portrait to great use these past few days.  This little rig has been sitting on my craft desk for several weeks now, but real life has kept me away from learning and playing (as in house renovations and a flooded basement).

Three sparkly little ghosts, frolicking between the letters, hoping to give you a fright or two! Personally, I think that they are just too darn cute to spook anyone!

The three ghosts and "BOO" were cut with the Portrait. The letters were embossed with SU spider web folder. The ghosts and pretty much everything in my craft room, were glammed up with SU Dazzling Diamonds glitter!

So scoot on over to the other blogs and check out day two sweet treats from the rest of "the crew"...

SEVEN DAYS OF HALLOWEEN BLOG EVENT

Welcome to Day 1 of  Seven Days Halloween Inspiration!

EDITED TO PROVIDE HOW-TO DIRECTIONS
PLEASE SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST

This brilliant idea was 'conjured up' by the amazingly talented and energetic Donna Bowman  Add in an Inspiration Crew with talent that reaches to the moon and back, and I guarantee that the H'ween projects will be flying out of your craft rooms faster than the speed of light!

My first project is a sweet little Hand Sanitizer holder. These cute little bottles (yes, they are actually decorated for Halloween) came from Bath & Body and were only .79. One 12 x 12 sheet of paper will make 4 of these cards. They make a great and economical gift for teachers and co-workers and can be whipped up in no time at all.

Here is a side view of the Hand Sanitizer gift box.

Now, how cute is this wee Halloween hand sanitizer?

A view of the project laying flat before it is folded

Now grab a cup of coffee and a snack and settle in for some mojo motivating eye candy!

How about a giveaway?  Well, heck yeah! What is Halloween without treats?  How does as $20 gift certificate sound?  I will keep you in suspense until the end of the week as to where the lucky winner will be going shopping!

Simply leave me a comment on each of my Halloween project posts (one comment per day please). A winner will randomly be drawn on October 13th and will contacted by e-mail.

This post is being edited to provide the directions for making the gift holder:

1. Cut a piece of card stock 12" x 2 3/4" (see photo below)
2. Score at marks indicated by the ...... lines
3. Specifically at:  3 3/8; 4 3/8, 7 3/4, 8 3/4, and 11 1/8
4. Punch a circle(s) centered on the last panel - this will hold the lotion bottle.  Another option is to punch two smaller holes and use the gift card for lip balms or small tubes of hand cream
5. Decorate the panels
6. Refer to the photo above that offers a side view of the project

Happy crafting!
