CASology 39 - Guest Designer - Travel

Needless to say, I was beyond thrilled, honored...and nervous, when the oh-so-sweet and very-talented Melissa asked me if I would like to be a guest designer for this challenge.  It took me all of 2 seconds to say yes, and several days to come up with a card!  A 'few' re-makes later, along with 'the odd addition' to the recycle bin, this is the card I settled on.

My inspiration came from a photo that I saw when I googled 'travel'.  I really like the movement that the angle of the railing seems to create. Similar to an ocean liner moving off into the big blue sea, carrying the passengers to a beautiful tropical island where they don't have any SNOW!  A touchy subject around here these days!

I know that the amazing DT at CASology will have some worldly type creations that will have us heading straight to our craft rooms!. Hope you find time to play along :)

Happy crafting!

Supplies:  CTMH white cardstock; SU Real Red and scrap pile blue

  7. This card of yours is like a breath of fresh air, Geri! I can almost envision myself sitting on the deck of that cruise ship...except for the fact that I've never been on one to know what it's like. :) This is one fantastic CAS design!!!
Thanks for agreeing to be our guest designer this week! :) We're honored!

  11. This is a genius creation, Geri. And I mean genius in terms of creating the image in your head genius, and then working-it genius until you were able to evoke a cruise ship complete with the ocean and the sky in the background and still keep your design clean and uncluttered and crisp. I'm so sure.

See the old lady behind the deck chair behind you, on her knees with her arms out in front of her, covering her ears with her elbows? That would be me, bowing before you!!

  12. Well, if you weren't guest designer, I think you would have another winner on your hands. This is absolutely stunning! I can hear the travel music in the background! Yes, it definitely evokes a warm, sunny (snowless) cruise, but it also reminds me of my kids' infant school which was a 400-year-old building alongside the river, next to the 900-year-old church. The playground was right next to the river, with a 15 foot drop, so part of the school's essential equipment was a lifebelt on the railings. As far as I know, no children ever fell in, but plenty of shoes, gloves, scarves, etc. ended up in it!

  13. WOW! Well, my friend, your creativity knows no bounds ... this is so totally stunning and clever and fresh and clean and completely and gorgeously CAS! Just sitting and looking at it, I'm transported to tropical climes, palm trees waving gently in the breeze, coral sand, lapping waves, long cool drinks ... think I'll stay for a while! Anita :)

  16. Great card, Geri - and congrats on being the guest designer! From what I've seen of your cards, you are more than deserving of being selected! Your site is such a delight with your displays of talent and your engaging posts! Thank you, especially, for commenting on my blog; yes, the chevron 'battle' was a toughie, but I had fun. May have to 'reconcile' our relationship for a few challenges I've seen pop up for this week coming! By the way, some of my most wonderful days were spent on my grandparents farm in Woodmore, Manitoba. Although my grandparents have passed away, my dad still has the farm (we live in Alberta, so its rented out) which has been in the family over 100 years (nearly 106, I think). Wonderful people, wonderful province! Have a great Friday!
