12 DAYS OF HOLIDAY PROJECTS - DAY 9

Welcome  to Day 9 of 12 Days of Holiday Projects! How many projects do have completed? Have you been inspired by the projects that the Inspiration Crew has created?

We are hosting Christmas Eve for my side of the family - likely about 30 of us! These are the place setting  cards I am making for the table. My poor Silhouette will in need of a rest once these are finished!

Our meal will consist of the traditional Ukrainian dishes that my Baba and my mom made.  Of course, theirs always tasted better....but hey, at least we are working at keeping the tradition going.  Twelve meatless dishes that consist mostly of dough, cream and butter!  Ya think we consume 9,000,000 calories in one meal?  Yep!

We also  have Pickerel too - caught fresh by DH.

Leave a comment on this post if you would like a chance to win a $25 gift certificate.  The draw will be made on December 22nd.

  1. Love this clean and graphic place card. And a Ukrainian Christmas sounds wonderful! I love tradition, but sometimes long for a change. But my mom would probably keel over if I served pickerel instead of turkey. And I don't have anyone willing to go out and catch it, anyway! Enjoy!

  4. I love that you are carrying on tradition! I think it just holds families tightly together! You are going to be one busy lady making all of these dishes for 30 - THIRTY people!! And making all of these sweet place settings for each and every one of them! What a busy, but SPECIAL day it will be!

  5. Such a festive look with these negative cut red and green trees, Geri ... so perfectly executed ... bet your table will look amazing! Thirty for a Ukrainian Christmas ... phew and yum-my at the same time! Freshly caught pickerel sounds fantastic ... and as for all the other ever-so-slightly-calorie-laden dishes ... it's only once a year (isn't it??) ... eat, drink and be merry! Anita :)

  6. Place setting cards - fabulous - and 30 people?? WOW!! My mom (Polish background) used to follow the 12 dishes tradition as well, but with such a small gathering (at the time, only 5 - 6 of us), things changed. A lot of work for mom, so she's done some ''rearranging." Pirohi, cabbage rolls, kielbasa and a couple other dishes make their way as part of the Christmas feast, when the gathering is larger and appetites ravenous. I can only imagine how much cooking and baking you have to do; sounds rather like fun! Oh yes: my loopy leaf mistletoe: a 6 x 6 pad of American Craft cardstock of Christmas colours. It's quite yummy!! Hugs~c
